It’s been a while since I’ve posted! I realized you all probably need an update.

I’m on draft 3 now of my debut novel, Dodo Bird Academy, and the editing process is definitely taking its toll. I work as a full-time scientific writer and editor during the week. It’s super hard to take off that “editor’s hat” when what I need to be doing is adding worldbuilding to my story, or adding important scenes. My brain is immediately drawn to any noun-verb inconsistency, or present tense use in a past tense book. When you have a 60,000+ word document, that’s a lot of grief!

Anyway, I’m mostly posting about process here. Writing can be so enjoyable for me, but it can also be a slog. I’m in the slog part now and that’s ok.
